After a patient is diagnosed with prostate cancer and the disease has been appropriately staged (the process of performing exams & tests to learn the extent of the disease), he and his loved ones are given the opportunity to meet simultaneously with a urologic oncologist (surgeon), a radiation oncologist, a medical oncologist and an oncologic nurse, who offer objective opinions regarding the best treatment options. This forum is informal, educational and made available as a service of the Program. White Plains Hospital Center is the only hospital in the area offering this interactive approach to prostate cancer treatment. |
